Slow Downs

Missing Primary Source Documents
Transcripts and exam scores must be sent directly from the source; applicant-uploaded copies are not accepted.
Criminal Background Check Processing
Delays in scheduling fingerprinting or processing results can stall the application. Schedule the appointment immediately after receiving the Fieldprint code.
Incomplete License Verifications
Failure to provide verifications from ALL states where a license was previously held, regardless of status, will delay approval.

Questions

When does my DC Audiologist license expire?
Licenses now expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month every two years (even years for those born in even years, odd for odd).
What are the continuing education (CE) requirements for renewal?
Audiologists must complete 20 hours of CE every two years, including 1 hour of Ethics, 2 hours of LGBTQ cultural competency, and 2 hours (10%) of Public Health Priorities.
Do I need to be fingerprinted for every renewal?
No, a fingerprint-based CBC is typically required for initial licensure. Renewals usually require a name-based search CBC unless otherwise notified.
Can I practice while my application is pending?
No, you must have a valid, active license issued by the DC Board before you can legally practice audiology in the District of Columbia.
