Slow Downs

Incomplete Identification
Failure to provide a clear copy of both a photo ID and Social Security card will halt the application process.
Out-of-State Verification
Delays often occur when waiting for other state registries to confirm the applicant's status for reciprocity.
Exam Retakes
Applicants who fail the exam must wait for a rescheduling notice and pay additional fees, extending the certification timeline.

Questions

Does Kansas issue a physical CNA certificate?
No. Kansas uses an online-only registry system. Employers must verify your status at ksnurseaidregistry.org.
How do I keep my CNA certification active?
You must work at least 8 hours in a nursing task role within a 24-month period. This work must be performed in a licensed adult care home or hospital, not a doctor's office.
Can I work while waiting to take my exam?
Yes, you can work as a 'Nurse Aide Trainee II' for up to four months from the date you start your training or receive approval to test.
What happens if my certification expires?
If you have not met the work requirement in 24 months, you must take a 10-hour refresher course to reactivate your status.
